What are you disrespecting?
Hello reader,
Let's talk about disrespect.
You say you are grateful for that item? How do you treat it? If it could talk, would it yell back at you - "If you are so grateful for me, why do you treat me like dirt?"
I LOVE this sideboard. It used to belong to the family of my brother-in-law's exwife, but it was falling apart it a garage. My husband and I inherited it, restored it and use it every day.
I am really grateful it came to us and grateful it graces our kitchen.
But I have been disrespecting it. Up until a week ago, the top was covered in unused items and dust. I don't have a photo of that clean up unfortunately. Even as nice as this looks now, it still has dirty secrets within.
This is the right drawer.
Today I have shown my gratitude for this furniture and the items I am grateful for within, but organising it.
Drawer empty...
Drawer reorganised.
I kept quite a few of the hair items, makeup and incense.
This is what I threw out.
Talk about disrespect.
Now I genuinely feel grateful for that drawer and everything in it.
The whole thing took about half an hour.
My aim is to do one area each day. And to maintain the areas I have already cleaned (that's the hard part). With each area that I clean, cull and organise, I feel my gratitude rising, my feelings of self worth increasing, and my need for buying new stuff drop right off.
Join me if you like. Do one drawer today.
Or, just watch along as I lift myself up. I am sharing it in the hope it will inspire you to life yourself up too.
I made a facebook group for you to share your achievements...

See you again tomorrow

This is a great idea. You could also write a note describing why you are grateful for this big piece of furniture. You could put it in an envelope in a drawer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea! I was cleaning out another drawer yesterday in my bedroom and came across a letter I wrote myself just after my son was born. It's lovely to read after so much time.
